'He was never in the running': Internet trolls Vivek Ramaswamy as Trump rules him out as his VP pick
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump, who is the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee, has declined the proposition to select Vivek Ramaswamy, the biotech multimillionaire, as his running mate.
However, according to the New York Post, Ramaswamy is still being considered for a cabinet position by the 77-year-old MAGA strongman.

Ramaswamy, who ran against Trump in the past, promptly endorsed him after dropping out following the January 15 Iowa caucuses and has since been an active surrogate for Trump on the campaign trail.
Given the close relationship between the two, Ramaswamy’s name has been speculated as a potential vice-presidential candidate for a while now. Trump himself has teased a running mate “short list,” but has yet to reveal the identity of his top choice.
What was Vivek Ramaswamy's camp's response following news?
Bloomberg, which identified Ramaswamy as a candidate for Homeland Security secretary among other roles, broke the initial news of his exclusion from the vice-presidential list of probables.
Ramaswamy spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stated in response to the report, “There’s a lot of press speculation, but I can tell you Vivek’s top focus is making sure we get President Trump elected so that we can take America First to the next level.”

She continued, “This country would be lucky to have him serve in the next administration and beyond. In the meantime, Vivek is focused on driving change in the private sector and reforming our economy, including by continuing to push back against the ESG cancer in corporate America.”
In January, reports were indicating that Vivek Ramaswamy was unlikely to become Donald Trump's running mate.
Before the Iowa caucuses, the two politicians had a heated exchange, during which Trump accused Ramaswamy of being 'sly' and using 'deceitful campaign tricks' and for not being a dependable ally of the 'Make America Great Again' movement.

Jason Miller, Trump's top adviser, also disclosed at the time that it was “pretty safe to say it won’t be Vivek” as the Vice President.
According to Bloomberg, Doug Burgum, the governor of North Dakota, Elise Stefanik, a representative from New York, and Robert Lighthizer, the former US Trade Representative, are potential additions to Trump's executive team.
Additionally, it is reported that Kevin McCarthy, former House Speaker from California, is being considered as a potential White House Chief of Staff.

During a Fox News Town Hall last month, Trump responded affirmatively when asked about Sen. Tim Scott from South Carolina, former Representative Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii, Governor Kristi Noem from South Dakota, Byron Donalds (R-Fla), and Governor Ron DeSantis from Florida, all of whom were on a "short list" of potential running mates.
While Governor DeSantis ruled out the possibility the following day in a leaked Zoom call, the other potential picks have expressed their interest in the possibility of serving under Trump as his vice president.
Internet weighs in as Vivek Ramaswamy misses out on running alongside Donald Trump
People on X ridiculed the 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur, who initially made such a big impact on the conservative political landscape when launching his 2024 presidential bid last year, to ultimately dropping out of the race, endorsing the former president, and then ultimately, coming up short on his potential running mate list.
One X user remarked: "Trump will pick another traitor is my guess."
Another user said: "He was never in the running. Wishful thinking on some people's part. But he will be useful in the Cabinet."
