LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hip hop superstar Drake has reignited his feud with the Recording Academy by dismissing the Grammy Awards as meaningless just hours before the 2024 ceremony commenced, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Drake's Instagram post on Sunday, February 4, echoed his earlier statements about the Grammys being an "opinion-based sport" rather than a "factual-based" celebration of musical excellence. He advised his fellow artists not to take the awards too seriously.

Drake has frequently questioned the transparency and integrity of the Grammys

This is not the first time Drake has criticized the Grammys. He has frequently questioned the transparency and integrity of the voting process over the years.

In 2019, when accepting the award for Best Rap Song for 'God’s Plan,' Drake said, "I want to let you know that we’re playing in an opinion-based sport. Not a factual-based sport. So it’s not the NBA where at the end of the year, you’re holding a trophy because you made the right decisions or won the games."

"This is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people that might not understand what a mixed-race kid from Canada has to say or a fly Spanish girl from New York, or a brother from Houston — right there, my brother Travis [Scott]," he continued.

In a controversial move, the Grammys telecast abruptly cut Drake's acceptance speech short by transitioning into a commercial break before he could finish his remarks.

Drake does not submit his albums for Grammy consideration anymore

Drake pointedly does not submit his albums for Grammy consideration anymore, believing the ceremony undervalues hip hop and Black artistry. He did not submit his recent solo efforts 'Certified Lover Boy' or 'Honestly, Nevermind' this year.

However, he did secure four 2024 nominations through a collaboration with rapper 21 Savage.

In his Instagram message on Sunday, Drake posted a video clip of his 2019 speech with the caption: "All you incredible artists remember this show isn’t the facts, it’s just the opinion of a group of people [whose] name are kept a secret (literally you can Google it). Congrats to anybody winning anything for hip hop but this show doesn’t dictate s**t in our world."

He doubled down on his belief that the Grammys reflect subjective opinions rather than objective quality, dismissing the voting members as unqualified and biased.

Internet unleashes a wave of trolling at Drake following his Grammy diss

In response to Drake's recent Grammy diss, the internet swiftly unleashed a wave of trolling aimed at the rapper. One X user sarcastically remarked, "It dictates who gets mad clearly…" Meanwhile, another user quipped, "Everybody has something to say once they lose…"

A third user questioned the consistency of Drake's claims, asking, "Was it rigged the 5 times he won or just when he lost?" Meanwhile, another user dismissed Drake, stating, "He's just bitter."

Drawing parallels from past controversies, a fifth user drew comparisons, stating, "Sounds like Kanye when Taylor won that MTV award." Another user threw shade at Drake's apparent attempt to diminish fellow artists, remarking, "Not him trying to make these artists feel less than because he hasn’t won a Grammy in yearsss."
