‘Hypocrite Republican’: Gov Kim Reynolds slammed for endorsing Trump after his Super Tuesday wins
DES MOINES, IOWA: Iowa Gov Kim Reynolds endorsed former President Donald Trump after he dominated the Super Tuesday primaries, reported The Gazette.
The Republican Governor, who had previously endorsed Florida Gov Ron DeSantis for President, shifted her support to the presumptive GOP nominee through an X post on Wednesday, March 6.
"Joe Biden has been a disaster for our country. Higher prices, inflation, an open border, crime, and the destruction of America's image on the world stage," Reynolds wrote, adding, "I will do everything to defeat him and elect Donald J Trump for President of the United States!"
Trump nearly swept away the Super Tuesday primaries on March 5 by winning in 14 of the 15 states that voted. His GOP opponent, Nikki Haley, exited the presidential race after winning only in Vermont.

Donald Trump slammed Kim Reynolds initially
Reynolds, who had backed Trump in 2016 and 2020, was not a part of his team at the start of the 2024 election campaign.
In November 2023, ahead of the Iowa caucus, she threw her support behind Florida Gov DeSantis, calling him "one of the most effective leaders" she has ever seen.
"We need someone who will fight for you and win for you, someone who won't get distracted but will stay disciplined, who puts his country first and not himself. That leader is Ron DeSantis," Reynolds then said.
However, the Iowa Governor's move irked Trump, who lashed out, calling her "disloyal." He also warned that her move would be the "the end of her political career" and resurfaced old TV ads where Reynolds was praising him.
DeSantis, who came second in Iowa, exited the race in January before the New Hampshire primary, narrowing the race to a Trump vs Haley showdown.
Reynolds, who had promised to back the ex-president if he became the eventual nominee, stayed true to her pledge as GOP rallies behind Trump, who now needs less than 200 delegates to secure the party nomination officially.
Another Trump critic, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, also endorsed the former President as the race transitions to a general election mode, setting the stage for a Trump-Biden rematch in November.

"Gross. You still think your endorsement matters? Or is this purely so he doesn’t say more mean things about you? Spineless," another user chimed in.
