ST CLOUD, MINNESOTA: In a whirlwind of political drama that has set social media ablaze, former President Donald Trump's recent campaign rally in Minnesota has become the epicenter of a heated debate, as per The Independent.

The event meant to kickstart Trump's 2024 presidential bid alongside his newly announced running mate JD Vance, took an unexpected turn when the former president seemingly confused two prominent Muslim congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, igniting a firestorm of reactions.

During his speech in St Cloud, Minnesota, Trump launched into a critique of local Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a well-known progressive and member of the 'Squad.'

However, in what appears to be a case of mistaken identity, Trump erroneously attributed actions to Omar that were actually associated with Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib.

"This lunatic was in the audience. She started screaming...It's the same crazy person I watch every night. She's nuts," Trump declared, referring to Omar.

The incident Trump was recalling dates back to 2016 when Tlaib, not Omar, disrupted one of his speeches at the Detroit Economic Club.

At the time, Tlaib was working as a public interest attorney and had not yet been elected to Congress. Video footage from the event shows Tlaib being escorted out by security, shouting, "you guys are crazy!" at the crowd.

This mix-up quickly caught the attention of both politicians and the public, with Omar swiftly responding on social media.

"Trump telling dangerous anti-Muslim lies is nothing new. But I have never attended one of his speeches. He is lying again or losing his memory. Trump should step aside as his criminal convictions and continued legal troubles have clearly taken a toll on the 78 year old conman," Omar penned on X.

The Trump campaign, however, stood its ground.

Campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung defended the former president's remarks, stating, "It's common to mistake the two deranged and radical individuals who both want open borders just like failed Border Czar Kamala Harris, are mentally unstable, and promote an anti-America agenda that seeks to shred the Constitution to pieces so they can burn it just like they do the American flag."

The incident at the Minnesota rally is not the first time Trump has been accused of confusing political figures. Earlier this year, during the GOP primary, he notably mixed up Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi when discussing the events of January 6. While Trump maintains that this was intentional, the explanation has left many unconvinced.
