HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA: Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, defended Republican Representative Lauren Boebert after her son, Tyler Boebert, was arrested earlier this week.

Netizens were quick to share the news of the 18-year-old's arrest and the several felonies he was charged with, according to RadarOnline.

Fetterman urged his followers on X, formerly Twitter, to be kind to the Boebert family, despite their political differences.

John Fetterman pleads to avoid 'recreational cruelty' on Boebert family

Fetterman made a plea on Wednesday, February 28, to go easy on Boebert and her family during this difficult time.

The 54-year-old former mayor of Braddock wrote on X, “This is a family in crisis and the recreational cruelty I see on social media needs to be out of bounds."

The senator then appeared to relate to his personal experience with internet trolls after seeking inpatient treatment for clinical depression last year, as well as his wardrobe choices and political views.

He further added, "I know the impact this has on children. I'm calling for restraint because cruelty has substantial collateral damage. We can't ever forget that they didn't sign up for this."

Reasons for Tyler Boebert's arrest

Tyler Boebert, the son of the notorious Colorado lawmaker, was recently arrested and charged with 22 criminal counts, including multiple felonies.

The Rifle Police Department has confirmed that the arrest came after a series of vehicle trespasses and property thefts in the nearby vicinity.

Of the 22 charges, five are felonies, including four for criminal possession of ID documents with multiple victims and one conspiracy to commit charge.

In response to her son's arrest, Rep Boebert issued a statement citing "public challenges" her son has faced.

She wrote, "I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn’t ask for. It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track."

Internet dismisses John Fetterman’s concerns, slams Lauren Boebert regardless

The Democrat Senator’s plea fell on empty ears as people on X were less than kind and Boebert’s detractors continued lambasting her for her son’s crimes.

One X user remarked, “He's so embarrassing, the only time he opens his mouth is to defend another terrible person's bad parenting."

Another argued, "John, 18-he’s an adult, and it’s not like he didn’t know what he was doing. She was vicious in relation to Hunter Biden, so what goes around comes around. I’m sorry for her, but the truth of her parenting skills came when she posed her children w guns for a Xmas card. Bad mom."

Someone else argued, "Fetterman is a disappointment."

One user asserted, "The kid literally signed up for this by doing crimes. No one cares about anything else he does, I only know who he is because of his crimes."

Another said, "I regret thinking Fetterman was cool."

Someone else tweeted, "That poor grown up child didn’t sign up to live in a country where vehicular theft was illegal :("
