‘Can’t blame her’: Donald Trump mocked as Melania doesn’t turn up to take award at Mar-a-Lago fundraiser
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: The former First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump’s absence from proceedings during an award ceremony at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, April 5, has raised concerns and sparked discussions online.
While her husband, former President Donald Trump is busy campaigning for his second White House term, Melania Trump has remained out of public view, leading to questions about her decision to completely remove herself from her husband’s campaign trail and ongoing legal issues.

Melania's presence has significantly decreased in recent years, in contrast to her active involvement during her husband's 2016 presidential campaign run.
What transpired during award ceremony at Mar-a-Lago?
On Friday, Tom Homan, the former Acting Director of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during the Trump administration, presented Melania Trump with the Child Advocacy Award at a fundraiser held at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's Florida resort.
However, Melania was not in attendance, and her husband accepted the award on her behalf, according to Newsweek.
"We wanted to take this opportunity, I know the first lady couldn't get here, but we wanted to give Melania Trump the Child Advocacy Award because she did so much for children when she was first lady," Homan stated.

It has been reported that the former First Lady is expected to make an appearance at a fundraising event scheduled to take place on April 20 at Mar-a-Lago.
The event will be held in support of the Log Cabin Republicans, an organization that claims to be the largest representative of LGBT conservatives and their allies in the United States.
It is worth noting that Melania Trump has maintained a close relationship with the Log Cabin Republicans for some time now.

The fundraiser will mark the launch of the organization's 'Road to Victory' initiative, which is aimed at targeting voters in critical swing states.
Furthermore, Melania was honored with an award by the Log Cabin Republicans at the 2021 Spirit of Lincoln gala, which was also held at Mar-a-Lago.
According to The New York Times, Melania Trump reported receiving a payment of $250,000 from the Log Cabin Republicans in December 2020, as disclosed in her financial records.

The former POTUS has attempted to present himself as more moderate towards LGBTQ+ issues than some members of the Republican Party.
During the 2016 campaign trail, he even held an upside-down Pride flag, a gesture that put him at odds with the GOP's most conservative hardliners.
However, his policies during his first term of office were criticized for systematically eroding the community's rights.

Throughout the 2020 campaign, the former FLOTUS maintained a low profile and has yet to be seen on the 2024 campaign trail. Despite this, she has attended a few events after her absence at her husband's Super Tuesday watch party.
Melania made a reappearance in early March when the couple hosted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at a dinner reception at Mar-a-Lago.

In May, roughly six months after Trump announced his reelection campaign, Melania Trump told Fox News Digital that she was fully supportive of her husband's decision to run again.
During a town hall event in February, the 77-year-old MAGA strongman was asked if his wife would be active on the campaign trail, similar to the current First Lady Jill Biden's involvement in President Joe Biden's reelection campaign.
"She's a private person," Trump replied. "It's funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She's going to be out a lot, not because she likes doing it, but she likes the result."
"She wants to see this country really succeed. [The people] love the fact that she's not out there so much. You know, a lot of first ladies will go out. They want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he's not introducing them. If I didn't introduce Melania she'd be very happy about it. She's just a different kind of a person. And she loves the country."
