SAN FRANSISCO, CALIFORNIA: President Joe Biden claimed that several foreign leaders had told him that he has to defeat former president and likely GOP nominee Donald Trump in the November presidential election, reported The Hill.

Speaking at a fundraiser in San Fransisco, California, on Wednesday, February 21, Biden said, "As I walk out of meetings, a head of state will find an excuse to come up close…and say 'you've got to win.'"

"Not because I'm so special. 'You've got to win because my democracy is at stake if the other guy wins,'" he continued, quoting the heads of states without naming them. "Nine heads of state have done that with me," the President added.

During a South Carolina campaign rally in late January, Biden made similar remarks, claiming world leaders were begging him to win over Trump in November.

Ever since announcing his re-election bid, the 81-year-old incumbent has focused his campaign on his predecessor's flaws, especially his attempts to overturn the 2020 election and alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

Joe Biden bashes the Republican party

Throughout the fundraiser event, Biden also lashed out at the GOP. Calling out late Republican Senator Strom Thurmond, the President added he "served with real racists" in the upper chamber.

"These guys are worse. These guys do not believe in basic democratic principles," he opined about Republican lawmakers. "Time and again, Republicans show they are the party of chaos and division," he added.

Biden's extreme discontent with the GOP lawmakers seemingly stemmed after the Senate Republicans blocked the long-awaited bipartisan border deal and foreign aid package to assist Ukraine and Israel.

In addition, he criticized the Republican lawmakers for committing a "big mistake" by not authorizing a $95 billion assistance to Ukraine in the wake of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny's death.

Biden, leading the Democratic primary sans a strong opposition, is on a three-day swing in the Golden State this week to fundraise for his re-election campaign.

Internet mocks Joe Biden over his claims

Netizens ridiculed President Joe Biden over his remarks, demanding him to name the world leaders who asked him to defeat Trump in the upcoming presidential election.

One social media user wrote, "Out of 195 countries in the world."

"That “story” is hilarious," another remarked.

A third individual quipped, "Too bad those 9 heads of state don’t get to vote in our elections," while another added, "But did they come to you 'with tears in their eyes' and call you 'sir'? Because it isn't a true story unless that happened. ;-)."

"And the rest of the world is praying that you don't," a fifth response read. Another said, "NAME THEM @JoeBiden. Otherwise you're LYING."
