PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Amid swirling legal controversies, conservative media figure Steve Bannon made a bold declaration on Friday, May 17, vowing to protect Rudy Giuliani, the former attorney to Donald Trump, as reported by Newsweek.

Bannon's defiant pledge came during Giuliani's 80th birthday celebration, which was unexpectedly disrupted when the former New York City mayor received a court summons related to his role in challenging Arizona's 2020 election results.

The case, led by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, saw a grand jury indict 18 individuals in April for allegedly plotting to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election victory in Arizona.

Giuliani, initially unnamed in the indictment, was later revealed as one of the redacted figures. On Friday, as Giuliani celebrated his early 80th birthday with friends in Palm Beach, he was served the court summons.

During the livestreamed birthday event, Bannon passionately defended Giuliani, declaring, "This is how dangerous they know this guy is. They have every instrument of state power to pressure Giuliani—to bankrupt him, to put him in jail, to smear him. We're not gonna let it happen."

He continued, emphasizing Giuliani’s importance to America: "Not even too good a man, you're too—Rudy at 80 years old. How many people at 80 years old, your moments' now finally come. This is when America needs you the most. And we're not gonna win in 2024 unless you are a major part of this."

Giuliani, who previously served as the mayor of New York City and Trump's personal attorney, has faced increasing scrutiny for his claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election, allegations made without any evidence.

Steve Bannon's pledge comes amid his own escalating legal issues

Bannon’s protective pledge came amid his own escalating legal issues. A federal appeals court recently upheld his criminal conviction, potentially sending the 70-year-old to prison after years of legal battles, according to BBC.

Convicted in 2022 for contempt of Congress due to his refusal to testify or submit documents to the committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot, Bannon has faced mounting pressure.

Despite his conviction, Bannon remained out of jail on bond as he appealed the decision, with his lawyer promising to file a new appeal citing "important constitutional issues at stake."
