VENICE, ITALY: Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s glamorous Venetian wedding was filled with high fashion, sentiment, and star power, but one of the most touching moments came from behind the scenes, as the Amazon founder was eager to sneak a peek at his bride’s dress before their big moment.
Despite his persistence, Sanchez was determined to keep the reveal a surprise, and succeeded, much to the delight of all in attendance.
The wedding, which took place on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, was a grand affair, but it’s the emotional buildup and personal choices behind Sanchez’s gown that gave the day its deeper meaning.

“Bezos begged to see the dress,” Vogue Italia’s Fashion News & Wedding Editor Laura Tortora revealed in an exclusive interview with People.
“But inside herself she resisted because she wanted to give him this surprise at all costs and so she managed it,” Tortora said of Sanchez, stating just how badly the Amazon founder wanted to see the gown before the ceremony.
The dress, custom-made by Dolce & Gabbana, left Sanchez awestruck after her final fitting.
"This happened after the fitting at Dolce & Gabbana, so her last fitting, and our insiders saw her immediately after, and she was really, really excited. She herself said, 'It was stronger than I imagined,' and she told us that Jeff wanted to see this dress," Tortora revealed.

To maintain the element of surprise, the couple took extra precautions, even during their Vogue editorial shoot. Tortora recounted that Bezos was “kept in a room that didn’t face the lawn where she was being photographed,” ensuring he wouldn’t get an early look.
This dedication to secrecy added a romantic layer to the wedding-day anticipation. “As you get a little older, not many things surprise you,” Sanchez reflected. “I can’t wait to see his face.”
