ATLANTA, GEORGIA: President Joe Biden's campaign reportedly dodged a point-blank question about whether Biden plans to take any drugs to enhance his performance during the upcoming CNN presidential debate.

The controversy arose after former President Donald Trump and some lawmakers demanded that Biden take a drug test before the showdown to address concerns about his mental acuity.

Donald Trump's campaign responds directly to drug test query

The Biden campaign avoided giving a direct answer to Fox News inquiring about any plans to use performance-enhancing drugs for the debate.

In contrast, the Trump campaign issued a statement and answered questions too.

Lauren Hitt, a Biden campaign spokesperson, deflected the question by criticizing Trump.

"Donald Trump is so scared of being held accountable for his toxic agenda of attacking reproductive freedom and cutting Social Security that he and his allies are resorting to desperate, obviously false lies," Hitt told the station.

When pressed for a "yes" or "no" response, she stated, "The accusation from Trump on drugs is a ‘desperate, obviously false lie.’"

White House did not respond to Fox News request for comment on the drug-use question

The White House did not respond to Fox News request for comment, the outlet claimed.

On the other hand, the Trump campaign responded directly to the same question asked by the network. "Absolutely not," said Karoline Leavitt, Trump campaign national press secretary.

"President Trump has naturally elite stamina and doesn't need performance-enhancing drugs, unlike Joe Biden, who many are saying will be drugged up for the debate like he was at the State of the Union," she added.

"President Trump has repeatedly asked Joe Biden to participate in drug testing. What does Team Biden have to hide?" she asked.

The clamor from Trump’s campaign and lawmakers has grown louder, particularly as concerns about Biden’s age and mental sharpness continue to surface.

Videos of Biden appearing confused or stumbling physically have fueled these concerns and speculations.

Despite the allegations, there is no clear evidence that Biden has used any performance-enhancing drugs or similar substances during his time in office.

Internet reactions over question of performance drug use during Biden-Trump debate

Netizens elicited mixed reactions. While some strongly weighed in about Joe Biden's use of drugs, others criticized the stupidity of the issue.

One user on X (previously Twitter) wrote, "Such a lie. They ignored your accusations." Another commented, "Trump will. We know that."

A user wrote, "Mr. B. Will NOT use any illegal drugs for his debate preparations, cuz Mr. B is ALL about keeping things legal here in the US…"

Another individual defended Biden's integrity, "Yes: Truth, Honor and Democracy!!! Something Trump knows nothing about!!!"

One person mocked the idea, "Performance enhancing drugs?!?!?!? He isn’t blood doping for a marathon. Good grief."

Some dismissed the question itself, "Personally, I wouldn't dignify that question with even a nod let alone a statement."

Another user questioned the scrutiny on Biden while suggesting Trump should also be tested, "Does Trump? Why isn’t anyone asking Trump to take a drug test?"

Others were convinced of Biden's alleged drug use, "There is no doubt that Biden will be fully medicated. Test both before debate!!"

One saw the question as unnecessary, "They probably just don't want to answer stupid questions."
