Meghan Markle felt 'frustrated' after call with palace over $300 necklace gifted to her by Prince Harry
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Meghan Markle reportedly once felt emotional as well as frustrated after being advised not to wear a personalized piece of jewelry gifted to her by her then-boyfriend Prince Harry.
During their dating period, the Duke of Sussex presented Meghan with a 14-carat gold chain featuring ‘M’ and ‘H’ charms by Maya Brenne, as per Daily Express.
The jewelry was worth around $300 (£235).
Meghan Markle felt call from palace regarding chain was ‘too much’
Meghan Markle was reportedly quite excited to wear it but received a phone call from a palace worker asking her not to don the chain as it could lead to unnecessary media attention.
Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have written about it in their book titled ‘Meghan and Harry, Finding Freedom’.
The writers said, “She was advised that wearing such a necklace only served to encourage the photographers to keep pursuing such images - and new headlines.”
In the book, the duo also shared, “After hanging up, she felt frustrated and emotional. While she knew the aide had good intentions, the surreal experience of having someone from her boyfriend's office tell her what kind of jewelry to wear or not to smile at a photographer was too much.”
Meghan Markle felt royals blamed her for everything
As per the authors, the 43-year-old businesswoman felt “damned if she did, and damned if she didn't.”
It has been said that Meghan spoke about it with her pals as well.
She told one of her friends, “I can't win. They make out like I'm to blame for these pictures, that it looks like I'm to blame for these pictures, that it looks like I'm encouraging them, that me even acknowledging the cameras may not be sending the right message.”
Meghan Markle to release her own bombshell book
This came as another report revealed that the mother-of-two is now thinking of releasing a follow-up memoir to Prince Harry's ‘Spare’.
She, however, is waiting for the right time, reported OK! Magazine.
An insider said, “The word in publishing circles is that everyone’s mad to land Meghan’s memoirs and the numbers being thrown around are ridiculously high. We’re talking tens of millions for her authorized biography — it’s going to get to the point where she can’t say no.”
“And love her or hate her, there's no denying that she has an insight into the royals that no one else can share,” the source added.
The insider also asked, “She’s strategically chosen to hold off for the sake of peace, but she absolutely wants to share her truth — and why shouldn’t she, when she’s endured so much?”
