'Not dating': Jennifer Lopez denies Brett Goldstein romance rumors amid 'Office Romance' release
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Jennifer Lopez recently addressed speculation about her relationship with 'Office Romance' co-star Brett Goldstein during an appearance on NBC's 'Today' show on Tuesday, June 2.
The actress shut down the rumors while promoting the upcoming Netflix film and reiterated that she is content being on her own. Her comments come more than a year after finalizing her divorce from actor Ben Affleck in January 2025, following the end of their two-year marriage. After the split, Lopez took a deliberate year-long step back from her career to focus on her emotional well-being and spend more time with her children.
Jennifer Lopez denies Brett Goldstein dating rumors during 'Today' interview
During an appearance on 'Today' alongside Goldstein, she was asked by co-host Savannah Guthrie about rumors that the two are dating in real life. “There's never a time when I'm seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don't try to put me with the person,” Lopez said, laughing.
Goldstein joined in on the joke, saying, “I think if you stand near her, that's what happens. That's why I've been standing so close this whole time.” The co-host responded, “Okay, but I'll just say, because I'm me and you know me. That was not an answer,” Lopez then pushed back.
“That was not an answer? It was an answer! Because all these people that they put me, I think I was with Kevin Costner this year. I was with … there was a lot of people. It happens all the time. Doesn't make it true,” she said.
Guthrie then asked directly, “Okay, so you're not dating in real life?” she replied “Not dating,” while Goldstein added, “Correct.”
The conversation later took a humorous turn when Guthrie misplaced her notes, prompting Lopez to tease that the co-host had become “flustered,” to which she replied, “I did, I got flustered. It's you, Jennifer!”
She laughed and responded, “You tried to fluster us, and we flustered you!”
Prior to the interview, a source told PEOPLE, “Her flirty energy with Brett is genuine. She really likes him," adding that she is "in a great place on her own right now though and doesn't need a relationship to feel happy.”
Jennifer Lopez opens up about single life after Ben Affleck divorce
According to a source, Lopez is “enjoying her life as it is. She's busy with work, family and the people closest to her." She finalized her divorce from Affleck in January 2025 after the pair's rekindled early-2000s romance culminated in their August 2022 wedding.
In a preview of her upcoming interview on 'Nightline' that aired on 'Good Morning America' on March 11, she opened up about embracing single life and finding happiness following the end of her marriage. “I’m in my happy era,” she said.
She further said, “I think, for the first time in my life, I feel like I’m free; I’m on my own. And it feels really good.” Reflecting on the experience, Lopez explained that independence is something she has rarely known throughout her adult life.
She continued, “I didn’t really know what that felt like since I was in my early 20s — and even before that,” she said. “I’ve always had boyfriends. There was always someone in my life, and so many things that I felt like were out of my control.”
The superstar also shared that she has reached a stage where she feels more confident in herself and less driven by the need to seek validation. “I’ve gotten to the point where I really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more, instead of being so hard on myself and always trying to prove myself,” she said.
