Taylor Swift’s bassist Amos Heller pens heartfelt note as Eras Tour comes to an end: 'Ride of a lifetime'
VANCOUVER, CANADA: The final curtain has dropped on Taylor Swift’s record-shattering Eras Tour and for bassist Amos Heller, the journey has been nothing short of transformative.
After more than 15 years playing alongside Swift, the 47-year-old musician took to Instagram to pen an emotional farewell, offering fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes of what life was like on the road with the pop icon.
Amos Heller reflects on the end of an era with emotional message
“It’s done,” Amos Heller began, reflecting on the conclusion of a tour that spanned five continents, 152 shows, and countless memories.
“No more early lobby calls. No more airports. No more lugging a suitcase and Mono bag up an escalator, through a line, out of baggage claim,” he wrote.
His words painted a vivid picture of the day-to-day grind, but also the profound experiences that defined the tour - from visiting bass shops in Australia, exploring watch factories in Switzerland, and getting tattoos in Ireland.
"No more warming up, no more cooling down. No more looking at my watch 20 times to make sure I don’t miss a call. No more saying goodbye to my family, no more “how many sleeps now?” No more jet lag," he described.
"It's done. No more slipping into new languages, cultures, cuisines, accented pleasantries," he added.

Heller's carousel of photos from the journey included a heartwarming shot of Swift leaning back on his shoulder during the Fearless segment of the show.
The bassist’s ode to the tour was both nostalgic and poetic, capturing the essence of a globe-trotting adventure.
“No more snow in Tokyo, watch factories in Switzerland, museums in Sweden, bass shops in Australia, steaks in Rio, tattoos in Ireland, runs in Germany, flowers in Amsterdam,” he wrote.
Amos Heller emerges changed 'as a player, performer, person, partner' after Eras tour
For Amos Heller, stepping into the “ringing stadium” each night felt like walking into an arena as a gladiator.
“Screaming lyrics with a perfect stranger who’s now your best friend” became the norm and the camaraderie among the crew and fans was palpable.
"No more Stage Right Obstructeds (my people). No more staring in awe at my family/friends who just moments ago were sharing a ridiculous joke, suddenly transformed into iconic titans, towering and thriving in the blinding lights. No more being called upon to dig the deepest I can, requiring the very best I am capable of," he wrote.
"This is the best I can do now. It’s a completed work," said Heller, reflecting on the journey.
He describe the process as evolving from "What If" to "How Will It Be" to "Here We Are" and finally, "Done."
With the record books now sealed, "fresh ink on a lot of pages," he then expressed a profound transformation, "I’ve emerged changed. As a player, performer, person, partner."
Backstage after the final show in Vancouver, Heller let the emotions wash over him, as he wrote, “I let myself sink to my knees for a bit, before laying on the floor gently reminiscing with [dancer Tori Evans]. Spent. We lived a lifetime.”
He likened the moment to graduation, calling it a bittersweet end to a monumental chapter.
Amos Heller praises Taylor Swift's leadership, bids goodbye to the 'ride of a lifetime'
The bassist also took a moment to honor Taylor Swift, whose leadership and vision have left an indelible mark on him.
“You command so much respect and admiration from everyone who’s fortunate enough to add their effort to yours,” he wrote.
“Your blend of focus, heart, stamina and joy calls forth the best of everyone around you. Thank you for trusting me with my part of your vision. It was the ride of a lifetime. I love you,” he continued.
Swift, 34, has not only set records but redefined what’s possible in the music industry.
The Eras Tour grossed over $2 billion in ticket sales — a feat no other artist has achieved — and inspired Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Book, which sold 814,000 copies in its first two days.
People magazine reported that Swift gave $197 million in bonuses to the hundreds of people who made the tour possible, from truck drivers to dancers.
As Heller concluded his message with the words “Long live” — a nod to Swift’s beloved anthem from Speak Now — the sentiment resonated with the millions of fans and crew members who have been touched by the magic of the Eras Tour.
Among the many comments on his heartfelt post, dancer Kam Saunders perfectly encapsulated the shared sentiment: “You absolute GEM of a human! I had the time of my life with you on this!”
While the tour may be over, its legacy lives on, as Swift gears up for six Grammy nominations and prepares for her next chapter.
