PIERRE, SOUTH DAKOTA: South Dakota Gov Kristi Noem has spoken about former President Donald Trump's endorsement of her upcoming book, where she narrated the incident about killing her 14-month-old dog, reported Mediaite.

In an interview on CBS' 'Face the Nation' on Sunday, May 5, host Margaret Brennan highlighted the very first blurb of the book, which was from Trump, and asked Noem whether the GOP presumptive nominee gave any response.

"Oh, he certainly knows about the book, and I appreciate his endorsement of it," the Republican, who is a top contender for Trump's VP pick, said.

The White House hopeful's blurb read, "Governor Kristi Noem is a tremendous leader, one of the best. This book, it's a winner. It exposes the problems we're having and lays out a fantastic plan to Make America Great Again. You've got to read it!"

However, he wrote it before the puppy-killing controversy erupted last week. Noem, in the book  'No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward' described how and why she shot and killed her dog, Cricket, due to its aggressive behavior.

Trump reportedly changed his sentiments toward the book

Despite Noem touting Trump's endorsement of the memoir, which is expected to be released this week, the former president might be no longer happy about her revelations.

The Rolling Stone recently reported, citing insider sources, that Trump "discussed or brought up Noem's pup-execution in closed-door meetings, as well as over the phone."

In addition, the former president was frustrated and asked, "Why would she do that?" and "What is wrong with her?"

The report said that he admitted voters disfavor politicians who kill dogs.

New York Post, which cited a source close to Trump, said it would be "impossible" for Noem to be his running mate pick despite having a shot earlier, and the real estate mogul was disappointed with the book Noem promoted.

Irrespective of the controversies, the South Dakota Governor promoted her book.

"This is really a book that talks about how we're not going back, it's — we're not going back before the days of Donald Trump. Donald Trump broke politics, and I think that's a good thing," she said on 'Face the Nation.'

Characterizing the book as an "honest, genuine conversation," she added it was a guide for people to make their voices heard to get genuine elected officials committed to expanding "freedom and liberty".

Internet trolls Kristi Noem

Social media users trolled Noem for touting Trump's endorsement of her book despite reports indicating his changed views.

One user said, "BWAHAHAHA the book is toilet paper."

Another remarked, "Translation: Noem paid the required endorsement fee."

"What a generic endorsement!" quipped a third user.

A fourth response read, "I wonder how much trump charged to provide this endorsement of a book he never read."

Another user added, "A pathological liar endorsing a pathological liars book is not the flex she thinks it is."

"Trump may know about your book, but he damn sure never read it," someone else said.

Meanwhile, an individual joked, "Trump is using Noem to wag the dog."
