WASHINTON, D.C: 'The View’s Sunny Hostin didn’t hold back as she criticized rappers Snoop Dogg and Nelly for performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration, branding their actions as a betrayal of the Black community.

During a heated discussion on the show, Hostin aired a scathing critique from former Bill Clinton aide Keith Boykin, who said the artists should be “ashamed of themselves," Daily Mail reported.

“You dishonor these people when you go and perform for this man who did nothing but dishonor Black people,” Boykin raged, pointing to Trump’s controversial history.

“[He] refused to rent to Black people in the 1970s. [He] tried to lead a lynch mob against five Black and brown kids in the 1980s in the Central Park case."

She continued, "[He] spent five and a half years lying about his birth certificate in the 2000s [and] attacked election workers like Ruby Freeman.”

Hostin, who introduced Boykin as "a friend", stood by his statements.

“Even though I didn’t watch,” she said, “I think what Keith said is so important for us to remember – that this is who Donald Trump is.”

Hostin points out irony of Trump’s inauguration on Martin Luther King Jr Day

Hostin found it particularly ironic that Trump’s inauguration fell on Martin Luther King Jr Day.

“I decided to protect my peace and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr Day instead of watching Trump’s inauguration,” she shared.

Highlighting the stark contrast, Hostin emphasized that Dr King championed not only racial equality but also economic equity.

“The hypocrisy of having a man be inaugurated on the same day we commemorate MLK is too much to overlook,” she said.

Referencing Trump’s moves to end diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, Hostin used CNN footage to underline her points.

"Martin Luther King not only wanted racial equality, he wanted economic equality," she reminded viewers, juxtaposing King’s vision with Trump’s policies.

However, Sunny Hostin’s co-hosts had varying perspectives.

Whoopi Goldberg, while critical of Trump, defended artists like Carrie Underwood, who also performed at the event.

“People do what they do for whatever reason,” Goldberg said. However, Goldberg also admitted she couldn’t bring herself to tune in, opting instead to indulge in “Buffalo Wild Wings.”

Joy Behar echoed Hostin’s sentiments, calling out Trump’s numerous pardons issued on inauguration day.

“If he’s sending all the criminals away, where is he going?” she joked, earning laughter from the audience.

Sara Haines joined the critique, describing the pardons as “the biggest middle finger he could give the entire country.”

She added, “His own vice president said if you committed vice on that day, January 6th, you shouldn’t be pardoned.”

Sunny Hostin calls for grace toward Biden

While Snoop Dogg has remained silent on the criticism, Nelly recently addressed the backlash on NewsNation’s CUOMO, saying he wasn’t concerned about what people think.

Hostin, however, showed no leniency, calling out the performers for what she views as a betrayal of Black Americans.

“When someone tells you or shows you who they are, believe them the first time,” Hostin said, quoting Maya Angelou.

“We already had a Trump presidency and know it is a vengeful one.”

Hostin also didn’t mince words about Trump’s qualifications, framing him as a hypocrite.

“He didn’t become President of the United States because of merit,” she asserted.

“He hasn’t really—he had no political experience whatsoever, he had no business experience. He was given everything he has. He is a legacy hire.”

As for her final thoughts, Hostin urged grace for President Joe Biden, even as the panel discussed his pardoning of family members. “If I can protect me and mine, I would do that – so I think we need to show Joe Biden some grace,” she concluded.
