White House mocks Mark Hamill after actor admits he nearly left US following Trump’s reelection

WASHINGTON, DC: Mark Hamill recently revealed that he almost left the United States after Donald Trump's reelection, but stayed after his wife convinced him to remain.
The confession drew a pointed response from the White House.
Mark Hamill says wife convinced him not to leave the US for Trump
Mark Hamill told The Times that his wife, Marilou York, didn’t answer right away when he suggested they emigrate to the UK or Ireland after Donald Trump won the 2024 election.
“She’s very clever. She didn’t respond right away, but a week later she said, ‘I’m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country,’” the 73-year-old said.

The actor recalled his reaction: “That son of a bi**h, I thought. I’m not leaving.”
Hamill, who previously lived in London, has been a strong supporter of Democratic candidates, including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
White House fires back at Mark Hamill with Rosie O’Donnell jab
A spokeswoman told Fox News, “Since Mark has decided to stay in the United States, he will get to enjoy the many wins President Trump is securing for the American people — and really, who can blame him for second-guessing a plan to move to the same place as Rosie O’Donnell.”

Rosie O’Donnell moved to Ireland after Trump was reelected, sharing in a TikTok video, “When you know it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”

Mark Hamill rages at the Trump administration’s incompetence
In The Times interview, Mark Hamill also vented his anger at the current administration, pointing to what he sees as failures.

“The bullying, the incompetence, the people in place … The only way I can deal with it without going crazy and wanting to open my veins in a warm tub is to look at it like a thick, sprawling political novel,” said the actor.
Hamill also mocked Trump when the president celebrated May 4, aka "Star Wars Day," by sharing an AI-generated photo of himself as a Jedi.
“I don’t get angry and I don’t drop F-bombs,” said Mark on 'The View' in June.

“I mean, I know I have a lot of kids that follow me, but I think to have fun with it, mock him — that’s the kryptonite to malignant narcissists,” Hamill added.
