In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday evening, April 23, Hutchins addressed the criticism she faced for praising Trump's record on LGBTQ+ rights. The transgender activist seemed unfazed by the backlash, stating that she loved "watching the meltdown."

"How dare I, a Log Cabin Board Member; how dare I, a Republican, how dare I be a conservative, a MAGA supporter?" she questioned defiantly.

Hutchins went on to explain her reasons for supporting Trump's 2024 presidential bid, claiming he was the "president for world peace" and "economic prosperity." She also made the controversial assertion that Trump was "the best president for LGBT people in the history of the country."

"Put LGBT social issues aside, which by the way, he is the best president for LGBT people in the history of the country, folks," Hutchins declared during her Instagram video.

CNN's exit polls from 2020 show Donald Trump's unpopularity with LGBTQ+ community

Despite Trump's occasional attempts to present himself as LGBTQ+-friendly, his presidency was marked by policies that drew sharp criticism from the community.

Notably, Trump's ban on transgender individuals serving in the military and his removal of guidance protecting transgender students' bathroom rights elicited widespread condemnation.

During his campaign, Trump signaled his intent to limit access to gender-affirming healthcare for transgender youth through executive orders.

While proponents of such measures argue for caution in healthcare decisions, opponents stress the importance of supportive care for transgender individuals' mental well-being.

CNN's exit polls from the 2020 presidential election revealed that just 27 percent of LGBTQ+ voters cast their ballots for Trump, with 64 percent favoring Joe Biden.
