The moment felt even more special for fans after Jonas recently praised Cyrus in a 2024 interview, marking a surprising turn in their history

Nick Jonas was all praise for his Disney peers such as Miley Cyrus

In a December 2024 interview with Variety, Nick Jonas likened the experience of working at Disney to a “creative school”—a training ground for young stars who have since built lasting careers.

“I absolutely look back at [Disney] as a creative school,” Jonas shared.

“It was also school, to be honest. I was between the ages of 14 and 18, which is my high school years. That graduating class of Miley, Selena, and Demi, it was all of us coming up together and you can see, frankly, the length of our careers and the success we’ve all been able to have,” he added.

“I think that’s a real testament to Disney’s ability to find and foster talent and understand what makes someone unique while finding a way to make it work within their ecosystem,” Jonas said of their legacy, as per Teen Vogue.

For fans who grew up watching that era of Disney Channel, Jonas’ words hit home.

Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato weren’t just co-stars and pop idols—they were part of a generation-defining phenomenon.

And like any high school class, their time together came with its fair share of teenage drama.

The love triangle that fueled Disney’s off-screen drama

One of the most talked-about storylines from that era had nothing to do with a Disney script, it was the real-life romantic entanglement between Nick Jonas, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez.

According to Billboard, Cyrus and Jonas first met in June 2006 at a charity event, and their teenage love story unfolded behind the scenes while the Jonas Brothers opened for her Best of Both Worlds tour.

While they kept their romance under wraps at the time, Cyrus later opened up about their relationship in Seventeen magazine, saying, “Nick and I loved each other. We still do, but we were in love with each other. For two years he was basically my 24/7. But it was really hard to keep it from people. We were arguing a lot, and it really wasn't fun.”

The' Hannah Montana' star even hinted at the depth of their connection, saying, “Maybe he’ll be my best friend for the rest of my life, or maybe I’ll end up marrying Nick Jonas!”

Their breakup in late 2007 led to a period of tension—and, according to Cyrus, inspired her 2008 breakup anthem '7 Things', which Nick confirmed a decade later.

But the story didn’t end there. Enter - Selena Gomez.

Jennifer Stone reveals why Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus had no scenes together in Disney’s crossover

Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas briefly dated in 2008, right around the time the Disney Channel was planning its biggest crossover episode yet.

But as former 'Wizards of Waverly Place' star Jennifer Stone revealed in July 2024, that teen romance may have led to some behind-the-scenes awkwardness.

As per Page Six, fans of 'Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana', the 2009 Disney crossover between 'Hannah Montana', 'Wizards of Waverly Place,' and 'Suite Life on Deck' might remember something unusual, that is, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus never shared a single scene together.

According to Stone, there was a reason for that.

“It was, like, high school. Like, they both dated Nick. I think Miley dated him first and then Selena dated him, and then it was just messy high school nonsense,” she said on the 'Wizards of Waverly Pod'.

While she reassured listeners that “they’re all good now,” the drama at the time was enough to influence how Disney structured one of its biggest TV events.

Where are Nick Jonas, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez now

Time, and life, have taken all three stars in different directions.

Jonas has long since moved on, dating singer Delta Goodrem and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo before marrying Priyanka Chopra in 2018.

The couple now shares a 2-year-old daughter, Malti.
