Jane Fonda's concern for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's relationship resurfaces after divorce filing
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amid the official end of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage on August 20 after months of speculation, social media is abuzz with a revealing moment from Lopez's close friend, Jane Fonda.
The internet has been dissecting every word exchanged between Lopez and Affleck, especially those in Lopez's February documentary, 'The Greatest Love Story Never Told,' from which Fonda's candid comments have resurfaced.
Jane Fonda's candid concerns about Jennifer Lopez’s PDAs with Ben Affleck
In the Amazon Prime documentary accompanying Lopez’s ninth studio album, 'This Is Me … Now,' the 86-year-old Fonda reportedly shared with her co-star Lopez, “I want you to know that -- I don't entirely know why -- but I feel invested in you and Ben.”
“I really, really, really want this to work,” Fonda expressed earnestly, before voicing her concerns about Lopez’s decision to showcase so much of her relationship with Affleck.
“However, this is my concern,” Fonda added. “Like, it feels too much like you're trying to prove something instead of just living it. You know, every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging.”
Lopez, 55, laughed off the remarks, responding with, “That’s just us living our life.”
"She's very protective of me," Lopez revealed to the camera, reflecting on her friend’s concerns. "She felt like, 'You're putting yourself out there to get beat up again.’"
In 'The Greatest Love Story Never Told' the highly scrutinized love life of Jennifer Lopez takes center stage, as she navigates through her relationships and embarks on a deeply personal healing journey and 20 year career.
The star-studded cast features Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Sofía Vergara, Post Malone, Jane Fonda, spiritual leader Sadhguru, and comedian Trevor Noah.
Daily Mail insiders reveal that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's so-called "fairytale" marriage was doomed from the start, with trouble brewing as early as their Lake Como honeymoon.
Sources suggest that the cracks were inevitable—Lopez struggled to control her embattled husband, while Affleck found himself unable to change her.
Jane Fonda picks up on the drama behind Affleck’s 2023 Grammys appearance
Lopez and the Oscar-winning actress have been close ever since they co-starred in 2005's 'Monster-in-Law.'
But Fonda didn’t stop there. She even mentioned the viral photos of Affleck looking bored at the 2023 Grammys.
"I got real scared, you know, with all that s**t about the Grammys and he looks unhappy and I’m like, 'Oh, my God, what's happening?'" Fonda confessed. But Lopez quickly defended her husband.
"Nothing! He was like, 'I’ve become the symbol of the beleaguered man,'" Lopez explained, recalling Affleck's reaction to the viral moments.
In the end, Fonda’s concerns proved to be all too accurate, as Lopez’s fairytale romance came to an abrupt halt.
Lopez and her now estranged 51-year-old husband had even gone as far as blending their families, each having moved on with others after their initial split years ago.
Lopez is the mother of 15-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck, meanwhile, shares three children—Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 11—with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
'The Greatest Love Story Never Told' is now streaming on Prime Video.
