WASHINGTON, DC: Just as Americans flocked to the polls in record numbers for one of the most pivotal elections in recent history, Vice President Kamala Harris found herself at the center of a brand new controversy.

A video of Harris is making the rounds on social media supposedly “proving” she faked a phone call with a voter.

Was Kamala Harris caught faking phone call?

The aforementioned clip shows Harris speaking into her phone, supposedly in the middle of a conversation with a voter. But when Harris turned the phone around to show the screen to a small crowd, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the camera app was open.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene wasted no time calling her out. “Everything about Kamala Harris is FAKE! She can’t even make a phone call without lying. What a joke!" she wrote.

Of course, Greene wasn’t alone in pouncing on the moment. Conservative commentator Benny Johnson shared the video too. “Kamala exposed herself ‘fake talking’ to a voter on the phone when she shows the camera app open on screen," he noted.

Eric Trump — son of Harris’s presidential rival Donald Trump — also chimed in, calling it “Unreal!”

Conservative activist Laura Loomer also jumped in. “Today, @KamalaHarris pretended like she was on the phone with a voter… All she does is LIE. How embarrassing," she offered.

The final push before election night

The whole “fake call” frenzy erupted on Election Day itself, a day that saw millions of Americans turning out to make a historic choice: to send Donald Trump back to the White House or make Kamala Harris the first female president in US history.

With the polls closed in Georgia—a crucial battleground state—and elsewhere, the competition was fierce. By this point, 84 million Americans had already voted early, setting the stage for a tight race between two vastly different visions for the country.

Early results were mostly predictable. Trump clinched Kentucky and Indiana, while Harris won Vermont, underscoring the stark divide in the country. But as polls closed across key swing states, it was clear that Americans were voting on more than just party loyalty.

A massive AP VoteCast survey of over 110,000 voters revealed that beyond the candidates, people were deeply concerned about the economy, immigration, and the future of democracy itself.

How Election Day unfolded

Despite some technical issues and long lines at a few locations, the day went pretty smoothly. Harris was out in DC rallying Democratic staff at the DNC, fueled by her signature snack Doritos.

Meanwhile, Trump voted in Palm Beach, Florida. Exuding confidence, he told reporters, “I feel very confident.”

Harris also remained upbeat, hopping on the airwaves to make her final case in battleground states. She was all smiles when she arrived to greet supporters, telling the cheering crowd, “This truly represents the best of who we are.”

When reporters asked how she was feeling, Harris held up her phone smiling and said, “Gotta talk to voters.” And well, that’s where the whole “fake call” controversy really kicked off, Newsweek reported.

Social media has a field day with Kamala Harris' gaffe

Critics of Kamala Harris excoriated and mocked her on social media after she accidentally revealed the camera app during her supposed phone call.

"She’s such a fraud," one posted on X.

"Everything about the Harris Campaign is a fabrication. Completely Fake!" another wrote.

"Not only is she fake, she's dumb. Showing the phone like that… what was she thinking!?" someone else wondered.

"Okay.. there’s normal fakeness, like being nice to that coworker you can’t stand... And then, there’s this... This is not normal… something is wrong with this woman," read a comment.

"Total embarrassment!! Don’t vote for this!!" another chimed in.
