NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rudy Giuliani, former attorney of Donald Trump, was suspended without pay from his WABC radio show for questioning the 2020 election's legitimacy on-air, reported the New York Post.

Station owner John Catsimatidis, a billionaire and prominent GOP donor, yanked the former New York City mayor after he defied two warnings about the "stolen election" claims on his 'The Rudy Giuliani Show'.

"He did it to himself," said Catsimatidis to The Post on Friday, May 10, adding, "I thought he was a great mayor for the city of New York, so I always try to support him. But you can't cross the line."

On Thursday, toward the end of his talk show, Giuliani went on a three-minute tirade on "stolen election." The station owner said his remarks about the 2020 election fraud violated the company policy "not to state, suggest or imply that the election results are not valid."

Rudy Giuliani denounces his suspension

Catsimatidis, who acquired the WABC radio station in 2019, claimed that he sent a letter to the former Trump attorney prohibiting him from "engaging in conversations relating to the 2020 Presidential Election."

However, Giuliani allegedly defied the warning, sending a text message that said he was "disregarding every order" in the letter, leading Catsimatidis to reply, "I've got to take you off the network effective immediately."

In retaliation, the former NYC mayor asked, "Does that mean you're firing me?" to which the radio station owner has not yet responded as of Friday evening.

While talking to The Post, twice-indicted Giuliani claimed that he wasn't aware of the policy cited by Catsimatidis, noting, "They don’t want me to say it’s stolen, they don’t want me to talk about the election at all. It’s so broad."

He added, "I am being told here to promise that I will engage in no conversations relating to the 2020 presidential election. Who the hell could promise that except a liar?"

About the suspension, the ex-Trump attorney said, "It is a blow to me. Absolutely. This is a major screwing!"

Giuliani, who still has shows on X (formerly Twitter) and Newsmax, disclosed he was paid $15,000 a month for the radio show, which he believes was "peanuts."

Meanwhile, Catsimatidis, who claimed Giuliani had asked for more air time in recent days, said his Thursday on-air rant was edited out.

The Trump ally, lauded as "America's Mayor" during the 9/11 era, filed for bankruptcy in December 2023 after he was ordered to pay a $148 million penalty to two Georgia election workers whom he had defamed after the 2020 presidential election.

Besides the civil court ruling, Giuliani faces criminal indictments in Georgia and Arizona for his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election results in Trump's favor. His other legal expenses include payment to attorneys in a sexual assault accusation case and a civil case filed by voting machine firms Dominion and Smartmatic.

Internet mocks Rudy Giuliani over his suspension from WABC radio show

One wrote, "Karma train is coming … choo choo," and another quipped, "Any day now Trump 'I don’t know who that is'!"

"Radio station just saved tens of millions of dollars and several lawsuits," joked a person, while someone else stated, "Not sad but highly hilarious and deserved."

"Oh. So sad. Meanwhile, have a garage sale. You owe Ruby & her mama money," wrote an individual, referring to the civil court ruling.

"Space cadet Giuliani will probably never touch down on planet earth again. He seems mentally fried," echoed one more as another person added, "S**t, now he's gonna have to bunk at Mar-a-Lago."

Likening the former Trump attorney to a character from the 'Lord of the Rings', a netizen wrote, "Rudy has become Gollum, 'My Precious Donald' He is the perfect Crook! Har har har!"
