NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Katie Holmes didn’t miss a chance to put her fashion foot forward as she made a glam public appearance, looking unfazed by former lover Tom Cruise’s toe-curling response to a Father’s Day question.

The 46-year-old ‘Dawson's Creek' star looked nothing short of sensational when she rocked up at Tod's Cocktail Party in New York on Tuesday, May 21.

This came days after her former husband appeared to be caught off guard when asked about his plans for Father’s Day at the premiere of 'Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning' in New York City.

Katie Holmes channelized her inner diva at Tod's Cocktail Party as she slipped into an eye-catching strapless brown dress, comprising a ribbed top and long leather skirt.

Wearing her long, highlighted brown hair loose, the Hollywood star complemented her look with smoky black eye make-up and a crimson lip, according to Daily Mail.

She completed the look with a pair of tan leather shoes and a cream Tod's bag with a gold clasp.

At the party, Holmes was pictured roaming around in the store of the luxury Italian brand, rubbing shoulders with the likes of actors Andrew Scott and Christian Slater.

Tom Cruise’s awkward response to Father’s Day question

Tom Cruise was promoting the latest installment of the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise in New York when a reporter stopped him to ask him about his plans for Father’s Day.

"Father's Day is just around the corner. What would an ideal Father's Day look like for you?" the reporter asked. The star appeared to awkwardly try and shrug off the question, as he replied: “Hey, you know, just having fun, man.”

Without referencing any of his kids, the father-of-three veered off the conversation to his action movies.

"Making movies, big adventures, having a great time," added Cruise, who is currently making headlines for his rumoured romance with Ana de Armas.

Tom Cruise’s estranged relationship with daughter Suri

Tom Cruise is reportedly close to his son Connor, 30, and daughter Isabella, 32, whom he and his second wife, Nicole Kidman, adopted during their marriage in the 90s.

But the Hollywood star is said to be estranged from his daughter, Suri, whom he shares with Holmes.

Holmes and Cruise welcomed Suri in April 2006, and went on to get married that same year. However, their partnership didn’t last long as they parted ways in 2012 when Holmes filed for divorce, in a move “to protect Suri from Scientology,” according to the NY Post.

Since then, Cruise has long been estranged from their now-teenage daughter Suri, who is currently studying at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania and frequently travels back to New York City to spend time with her mom, with whom she has a very close relationship.

Last year, at her graduation ceremony, Suri disclosed that she had dropped the Cruise surname and was now going by just her first and middle name - Suri Noelle.
