WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic Senator Peter Welch has launched a stinging critique of President Joe Biden’s campaign, accusing it of a "dismissive attitude" towards voter concerns about Biden’s capability to lead the country, as per The Hill.

This criticism comes in the wake of Biden’s less-than-stellar debate performance, which has sparked a wave of anxiety within the Democratic Party. In an interview with Semafor on Monday, July 1, Welch did not mince words.

"I really do criticize the campaign for a dismissive attitude towards people who are raising questions for discussion. That’s just facing the reality that we’re in," Welch stated.

Welch emphasized that this discussion about Biden’s capabilities is essential and should be widespread. "It has to be from the top levels of the Biden campaign to precinct captains in the South Side of Chicago," he expressed.

Biden’s performance in last Thursday’s debate has been a cause of concern among Democrats, raising questions about his ability to compete against former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

The performance was seen as a significant misstep, leading to a growing number of Democrats expressing doubt about Biden’s ability to serve another term. Some have even called for Biden to step down, though no national official has publicly joined these calls.

Despite the outcry, the White House and Biden’s campaign remain firm on their stance that Biden will continue his race for re-election.

In response to the concerns, Biden delivered a spirited speech in North Carolina, aiming to reassure his supporters and quell the panic. He also addressed the nation briefly on Monday night following a Supreme Court decision that granted broad immunity to Trump in his January 6 case.

The Biden campaign spent much of the weekend engaging with party leaders and donors, attempting to restore confidence and assure them that the campaign remains strong despite the recent debate debacle.

However, Welch believes that dismissing voter concerns is counterproductive.

"So then to be dismissive of others who raise those concerns, I think it’s inappropriate," he added. The Democratic Party, according to Welch, holds an "existential responsibility" to its voters to prevent Trump from securing a second term.

While another remarked, "Democrats must put our country first and force President Biden to resign as soon as possible." A third user wrote, "He is absolutely correct. Biden and democrat party are way upside down on this issue, even 40 plus percent democrats want him NOT to run."

Another user commented, "The Biden campaign is living in denial of reality." One user posted, "Somebody take joe’s keys to the White House and drag him to a basement somewhere." Another user mentioned, "Biden has been a brain dead douche bag his whole life."
