WASHINGTON, DC: In a bold and unconventional move, President Joe Biden's reelection campaign took help from pop sensation Taylor Swift's lyrics to deliver a blow to former President Donald Trump on Friday, April 21.

The campaign seized on lyrics from Swift's recent record-breaking album, 'The Tortured Poets Department,' to highlight what they called Trump's "tortured week" in a scathing campaign statement, as per The Hill.

The campaign's press release declared, "Another tortured week for the smallest man who ever lived, Donald Trump."

It then contrasted Trump's recent troubles with Biden's productive week of "taking his message to Florida!!! voters on the six-week abortion ban unleashed by Trump, receiving a key endorsement from building trades unions, and putting out more ads in battleground states."

"It is an indictment on Trump that he won't campaign, can't message, and is driving voters away," Biden campaign spokesperson James Singer taunted in a statement. "His campaign advisers are distracted, his campaign is losing time, and it is burning money on everything but actually reaching voters. Keep it up, Donald."

Joe Biden's reelection campaign is reportedly actively pursuing Taylor Swift's endorsement

Biden's campaign bravely integrates Swift's lyrics following widespread speculation about the singer's possible endorsement. Baseless conspiracy theories during the Super Bowl hinted at a collaboration with her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.

The New York Times had reported in January that Biden's team actively pursued Swift's endorsement, while Biden himself jokingly addressed the rumors in February, neither confirming nor denying any collaboration in the works.

Internet trolls Joe Biden as his reelection campaign uses Taylor Swift's lyrics

The Biden campaign's use of Swift’s lyrics drew swift backlash from users across social media.

One X user quipped, "And his presidency has been a blank space." Another user questioned the tactic, stating, "Why do they do nonsense like this? Why don’t they talk about how their policies are helping the American people? Oh, that’s right."

A user commented, "Biden’s best hope. Bash Trump. And hope voters pay little attention to his record." Meanwhile, another user suggested, "Taylor Swift has made a living writing songs about her failed relationships with men. I have a feeling that she will have some new material in November."

A user remarked, "Popstars can’t make Joe Biden more popular." Another user criticized, "The Biden administration is so desperate to not lose they'll weaponize the justice department (fact) against a political opponent and try to use a pop star right out in the open."

Lastly, a user on X highlighted, "Thanks to @JoeBiden, we have had several Cruel Summers that included high prices at the grocery store, a crisis (that continues today) at the border, and a failed withdrawal from Afghanistan. His leadership is out of style. Vote RED in 2024. @GOP."
