WASHINGTON, DC: On May 15, President Joe Biden faced the ire of social media users for the excessive jump cuts in his 14-second video challenging Donald Trump to join him for a debate, according to the New York Post.

The video, released at 8 am, featured the 81-year-old incumbent daring his predecessor to engage in a one-on-one debate with him, provoking the former president to "make my day."

Joe Biden releases 14-second video with 5 jump cuts

President Joe Biden, despite snubbing his Democratic rivals of a debate with him in the primaries this year, derided former President Trump in the video posted on X, “Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for a debate. Now he’s acting like he wants to debate me again. Well, make my day, pal.”

Saying, "I hear you're free on Wednesday," Biden ribbed the MAGA strongman, alluding to the one day a week when the ongoing hush money criminal trial against Trump is not in session.

The POTUS’ campaign team also promoted “Free on Wednesdays” T-shirts.

Trump campaign official Steven Cheung responded, “In a super short 14 second video, the Biden campaign needed to do 5 jump cuts because Crooked Joe couldn’t deliver a clean reading. Total disaster.”

Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo) said, “Biden’s video has 5 cuts in 13 seconds. What will Biden do in a debate when his many handlers can’t edit and splice his sentences together.”

The Biden-Harris campaign promptly dismissed the criticisms.

The “Trump campaign [is] desperate because they’ve been begging to debate and he got called out,” a Biden campaign adviser said.

“So they are grasping at straws trying to make a common online [video-editing] tactic be an attack,” the adviser claimed, noting the video was recorded at the White House.

When will Trump and Biden debate this year?

Biden and Trump have agreed to participate in a CNN-hosted debate in Atlanta on June 27 at 9 pm, followed by an ABC News debate on September 10.

President Joe Biden has long been the target of the 2024 presumptive GOP nominee, Donald Trump, who likewise disregarded all of the Republican primary debates, and accused his political adversary of being too afraid to face him.

The 77-year-old readily agreed to two debates, and his campaign has requested two more.

Trump posted on his proprietary social networking platform, Truth Social, "'Crooked Joe Biden is the WORST debater I have ever faced — He can’t put two sentences together! Crooked is also the WORST President in the history of the United States, by far."

"I am Ready and Willing to Debate Crooked Joe at the two proposed times in June and September," the ex-president claimed adding. "Just tell me when, I’ll be there. “Let’s get ready to Rumble!!!”"

Trump insisted on a showdown between the two before the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) planned events during the fall of this year.

The Biden-Harris campaign presented a proposal for a vice presidential debate in July and one-on-one debates in June and September in a separate letter to the commission.

The Democratic camp wished to avoid “squandering debate time on candidates with no prospect of becoming president,” a slight directed against the independent presidential candidate, Robert F Kennedy Jr.

During the 2020 election cycle, only two debates took place between Trump and Biden, instead of the usual three.

This change occurred due to then-President Donald Trump testing positive for COVID-19 following their first debate encounter.

His request for a virtual showdown was rejected by the commission, leading to a reduction in the number of debates.
