WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden might soon come under more pressure from congressional Democrats to withdraw from the 2024 race, as per a report.

According to Reuters, citing a House Democratic aide, at least 25 House Democrats are getting ready to urge the 81-year-old incumbent president to end his re-election campaign following his poor performance in the presidential debate against former President Donald Trump last week.

Centrist Democrats in battleground districts, who are most vulnerable to losing their seats in November, were so concerned about President Biden's frail appearance in the recent debate that they are contemplating drafting a letter to the Democrat statesman, per the aforementioned outlet.

What did the Democrats say?

The Democratic lawmakers have been reportedly bombarded with questions about President Joe Biden by their constituents since returning to their districts for the House's Fourth of July week recess, according to the New York Post.

A second House Democratic aide told the outlet, “It looks like the dam has broken."

Rep Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) became the first House Democrat to urge Biden to pull out of his reelection campaign after the Commander-in-Chief’s abysmal debate outing against his predecessor, during which he repeatedly froze on stage and struggled to maintain a coherent train of thought.

On Tuesday, Rep Jared Golden (D-Maine) also expressed his lack of confidence in President Biden's ability to defeat the 78-year-old MAGA strongman in November.

Similarly, Rep Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wash) told a local outlet KATU, “The truth I think, is that Biden is going to lose to Trump.”

She continued, "I know that’s difficult, but I think the damage has been done by that debate."

However, she stopped short of calling on the POTUS to withdraw from the race.

The White House also suggested that meetings between Biden and congressional leaders were in the pipeline.

Internet trolls Joe Biden

One X user remarked, "Hang in there Brandon!!"

Another user quipped, "Don't go Joe. We need the laughs."

Another user said, "Democrats can whine, plan, and scheme all they want, but it's moot. The chance to replace Biden has come & gone. Candidate filing deadlines have passed in many states. Biden can't just be swapped out on the ticket b/c Democrats fear he's going to lose."

One X user wrote, "It's over. Biden is done. Who's up next? Kamala? Noo way."

Another user asked, "Isn't it too late now to switch Presidential candidates after primaries are over? RNC should fight this one, Democrats knew about Biden and went through primaries and now this?"

Finally, a user tweeted, "I get why some people might want a change, but it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out."
