'Let's not pretend': Internet disagrees as Kari Lake claims wars in Ukraine and Gaza 'are going to wrap up quickly' if Trump is reelected

PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake expressed her confidence in former President Donald Trump ending the Russian-Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas wars if he wins the 2024 presidential election, reported The Hill.

At a press conference on Thursday, February 29, the former Arizona gubernatorial candidate claimed, "I think when we get President Trump back in the White House, these wars are going to wrap up quickly."

"And so I really believe that we're not going to have to be continuing to pour money into endless wars because President Trump is about peace," she added.

Despite Trump's endorsement, Lake narrowly lost the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election to Gov. Katie Hobbs (D), which she claimed was stolen.

The former TV anchor announced her decision to run for Senate last year, receiving an endorsement from the former president. She is competing against Democratic lawmaker Ruben Gallego for the seat currently held by independent Sen Kyrsten Sinema.

Kari Lake argues Donald Trump never started a war

A staunch Trump ally, Lake continued showering praises on the leading GOP presidential contender, who is closing in on the party nomination after consecutive victories in state primaries, the recent being Michigan.

According to the Senate candidate, the former President "was on the verge of bringing us world peace" during his time in office. Further emphasizing that he was "wrapping up wars that he never started," Lake added Trump did not "start a single war."

"And since Joe Biden has been in office, we have all kinds of trouble around the globe. And that's why we need a strong leader and President Trump, one who puts America first, knows how to deal with world leaders, and I look forward to that," Lake opined.

Trump has repeatedly said that he would "solve" the Russia-Ukraine war in 24 hours if he wins the presidential election. As per an NBC News report, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a 2023 interview, invited the White House hopeful to visit the war-torn country, adding he needed only 24 minutes to explain why Trump "cannot manage" the ongoing war.

Republican lawmakers' refusal to pass a greater financial aid package to Ukraine led President Joe Biden to criticize their move as "walking away" from the nation's obligations. Furthermore, the incumbent's inaction to a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war is impacting his re-election bid. In the recent Michigan Democratic primary, Biden faced a dent in his vote share as an anti-Israel movement chose to vote "uncommitted."

Internet reacts to Kari Lake's claims

Disagreeing with Lake's claims of Trump wrapping up the two ongoing conflicts, netizens made mocking remarks suggesting the former president could not end it properly.

One user sarcastically pointed out, "Of course!! He’s going to sell them out so let’s not pretend it’s because he’s a great problem solver."

"Yeah, when Russia rolls over the rest of Ukraine and Bibi herds the Palestinians out of Gaza (the ones still alive) and into the West Bank, the wars will be wrapped up," another person wrote.

A third user opined, "Trump would request to begin negotiations. The talks would fall apart because Ukraine refuses to surrender. Donald Trump then praises Putin and blames Ukraine. Then he’d cut all US support for their war effort. If he hadn’t already."

While someone else slammed Lake by stating, "It is insane that someone can say something this ignorant publicly and still be running for office."

"Let me guess. Russia occupies Ukraine, and Israel occupies Gaza? Did I guess correctly?" read another mocking disagreement.
