WASHINGTON, D.C.: Independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr asserts that President Joe Biden must exhibit the "mental acuity" required for another term in office.

During an interview with anchor Martha MacCallum on Fox News’s ‘The Story’, the 70-year-old emphasized, "I think he needs to come out of the White House and show Americans that he has the cognitive capacity to — and the mental acuity to handle his job at probably the most challenging time now, at least in recent American history.”

“This is a crisis. We need a president who is thinking about these things, who is articulating the solution for the American people,” he remarked.

What did RFK Jr say about President Biden during his Fox News appearance?

Kennedy Jr initially contested Biden in the Democratic presidential primary but subsequently filed to run as an independent candidate, according to The Hill.

Kennedy Jr claimed that many Americans might not believe that Biden "can serve" when questioned whether he had that confidence in the 81-year-old incumbent.

He argued, “Our children’s lives are dependent on that 3:00 am call. And we need to know that we have a president who can wake up in the middle of the night and who is on his feet and thinking about those things.”

“I think a lot of Americans have lost confidence in that,” he claimed.

President Joe Biden's age and cognitive capabilities remain a topic of discussion as he seeks to secure a second term in the White House.

In response to concerns about his mental fitness, the Biden campaign and the White House have defended the sitting Commander-in-Chief.

These concerns have been further emphasized by the 388-page report from Special Counsel Robert Hur, which characterized Biden as a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

Biden addressed reporters in a furious speech following the release of the report, “I’m well-meaning, and I’m an elderly man, and I know what the hell I’m doing. I’ve been president, I put this country back on its feet. I don’t need his recommendation.”

Earlier this week, when pressed about his age on NBC's ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers,’ President Biden responded that what matters most is "how old your ideas are."
