'About time': Internet agrees with Rep Claudia Tenney as she seeks Biden removal under 25th Amendment
WASHINGTON, DC: Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenney called on the Cabinet to "explore" the removal of President Joe Biden under the 25th Amendment following an "alarming" report by special counsel Robert Hur, reported Fox News.
The 388-page report released on Thursday, February 8, on Biden's retention of classified documents, also posed serious concerns about Biden's memory and cognitive ability. Though the special counsel did not recommend any charges against the 81-year-old president, the report described him as an "elderly man with a poor memory."
According to a letter obtained by Fox News Digital that Tenney sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland on the night of February 8, she expressed her "grave concerns" about the report.
"After concluding that President Biden knowingly and willfully removed, mishandled, and disclosed classified documents repeatedly over a period of decades, Mr Hur nevertheless recommended that charges not be brought against him," she wrote. "Special Counsel's reasoning was alarming."
Despite concerns about his age, Biden is the frontrunner in the Democratic presidential primaries in his re-election bid for the 2024 presidential election.
Rep Claudia Tenney argues Biden lacks ability to execute presidential responsibilities
The New York lawmaker argued against "selective prosecution," highlighting Hur's report detailing instances of the president's "compromised mental faculties," which could cause the jury to view him as "a sympathetic and forgetful old man."
"We don't prosecute or decline to prosecute people based on their personalities, or on the public's anticipated perception of them," the letter read. "If Special Counsel finds that the evidence forms a reasonable basis to bring charges, he must do so."
Tenney further added that the Department of Justice "cannot ethically bring charges against former President Trump because he has mental acuity and a forceful personality, and decline to bring charges against President Biden because of his cognitive decline." However, she demanded Biden should be charged "unless he is not mentally competent to stand trial."
"Candidly, Special Counsel's report makes a reasonable case that he is not," the GOP Congresswoman said.

Tenney also pointed at the president's "mental impairment" in light of his inability to remember the position he held and when his child died. She claimed the incumbent "most seemingly lacks the ability to execute his presidential responsibilities."
"So it is incumbent upon you to explore proceedings to remove the President pursuant to the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution," Tenney wrote.
"President Biden needs to be charged, or he needs to be removed. There is no middle ground," she added.
Biden is either mentally capable to stand trial & should be charged for mishandling classified documents as Vice President OR he is unfit to serve as President.

The Cabinet can invoke the 25th Amendment if the president is unable to perform duties due to death, removal, resignation, or incapacitation, enabling them to replace the President.
Questions about Biden's memory increased after he claimed about meeting German Chancellor Helmut Kohl in 2021, who died four years earlier. Similarly, in another instance, he encountered difficulty recalling the name of Hamas while speaking about the release of hostages in a recent press conference.
Biden responded to concerns about his cognitive fitness in a fiery press conference, stating, "My memory's fine."
Internet reacts to Claudia Tenney's demand
Squarely agreeing with Tenney's demand to remove Biden, netizens suggested it should have been done long ago.
One user said, "Waited long enough. It's time for the dems to run Harris or another."
