PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Donald Trump Jr, the elder son of former President Donald Trump, said his father could choose ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson as his vice presidential running mate, reported Daily Mail.

Speaking on Newsmax's 'Wake Up America' on Thursday, January 18, Don Jr stated that Carlson agreed on "everything" with his father.

"Don, is your dad serious about Tucker Carlson? Are those rumors serious?" anchor Rob Finnerty asked the former First Son.

"That clearly would be on the table, right? I mean, they're very friendly; I think they agree on virtually all of these things," Don Jr replied. "I would love to see that happen. That would certainly be a contender."

Trump has kickstarted his election year with a landslide victory in the Iowa caucus. Given the likely GOP nomination, he has not revealed who will be his running mate in the 2024 presidential election.

Donald Trump Jr does not want Nikki Haley as his father's VP

Besides the speculations of Carlson grabbing the ticket to be the Republican frontrunner's VP, Don Jr has some more names on the list.

He refrained from ruling out rival White House hopeful Ron DeSantis from the list. Adding the Florida Governor is "a leading contender," Don Jr said, "You need someone who's in alignment, as well as, like, aggressive. You actually need a fighter."

The other name was Sen JD Vance, whom the former First Son considers "principally in alignment [with his father] as well as aggressive."

Former Trump aide Ben Carson was the fourth name Don Jr approved.

The only person he does not wish to see as his father's running mate is presidential hopeful Nikki Haley.

"I would do whatever I could to make sure it wasn't Nikki Haley," he said. "I don't think that's currently really on the table. That's my opinion, I don't make these decisions."

Don Jr also slammed the former South Carolina Governor, who has been a vocal critic of Trump since the announcement of her presidential bid, accusing Democrats of funding her campaign.

"The people who are getting her gains in New Hampshire are all Democrats. So, I probably see that as part of that sort of globalist Democrat, RINO tactic of dragging this out to make it harder for Trump to win a general." he added.

The former UN ambassador came in third position in the Hawkeye state; however, her popularity in New Hampshire gave tough competition to Trump in the upcoming primary on January 23.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump Jr's remarks

Unsatisfied with Don Jr promoting his wish for Carlson to become Trump's vice presidential running mate, netizens expressed their disagreement on social media platform X.

One user remarked, "Ridiculous."

Another user said, "That tells me that he won’t. I think they want to keep it a secret."

"He said he would likely pick a woman, which means it will either be Nikki Haley, Sarah Huckabee, or Kari Lake. IMO," read a third response.

Another user stated, "State administration requires seriousness. What does the vice presidency have to do with this guy? It would be a better decision if the media manager did it. If everyone does what they know, they will be successful."

One user added, "Lord spare us."
