'Wishful thinking': James Carville trolled for saying RFK Jr's candidacy will harm Trump more than Biden
WASHINGTON, D.C.: On Thursday, Democratic strategist James Carville predicted that independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr would take away a chunk of votes from former President Donald Trump instead of President Joe Biden in their likely rematch in the upcoming November general election.
On MSNBC’s ‘The Beat with Ari Melber’, Carville remarked, "I actually think Bobby Kennedy might hurt Trump more than he hurts Biden.”
Interestingly, Carville’s predictions contradicted former POTUS Donald Trump and his allies, as they have approved of Kennedy Jr's candidacy, implying that he would detract votes from incumbent President Joe Biden in the general election.
Shortly after Kennedy Jr declared entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan as his running mate on Tuesday, Trump reacted on Truth Social, "Kennedy is a Radical Left Democrat, and always will be!!! It’s great for MAGA, but the Communists will make it very hard for him to get on the Ballot."
What did James Carville say about the prospects of candidates other than Trump and Biden?
James Carville believes other third-party candidates could be more difficult for President Biden, according to The Hill.
The Democratic political strategist explained, “I think there’s a certain percent of people in our country that are just like, ‘Just F the whole thing,’ and Biden is not gonna get any of the ‘F it all’ vote, okay?”
“Now what worries me is Cornel West and Jill Stein because they’re going to get some of the ‘F it all’ vote, too,” he added.

West is an independent candidate who founded the Justice for All Party in January. Stein is once again running as a Green Party candidate.
"He's got some charm that Jill Stein never had," Carville continued, "But he’s– you know, I don't see him getting a whole lot of votes, but I see the possibility that he's going to take something out of our hide."
Carville estimated that No Labels, a centrist political party, could pose the most danger to Democrats in 2024, according to Mediaite.
Carville concluded, “The big question is No Labels. I think No Labels, with certain candidates, would help Donald Trump pretty clearly.”

Polls indicate that RFK Jr will hurt Biden more than Trump in a general election, but only by a slight margin.
Vivek Ramaswamy, a former GOP presidential primary candidate and biotech entrepreneur, said Wednesday that Kennedy's presidential campaign "could be a good thing" for Donald Trump.
Ramaswamy told Fox News host Sean Hannity, “It should take votes away from the Democrats. And this should be a good development, not only for President Trump, but I believe it for this country.”

During an interview with Newsmax presenter Eric Bolling on Wednesday, Sen Tim Scott (R-SC) predicted that Kennedy's candidacy would "bleed votes from the Democrats" to Trump's favor, echoing Ramaswamy's assessment.
Scott characterized Kennedy's running mate Nicole Shanahan as a "dyed-in-the-wool liberal" who favors "a redistribution of wealth," and said, “Having that third party candidate on the ballot, no matter the choice for vice president, is gonna bleed votes from the Democrats.”
