MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: On Friday, July 12, when asked if she would be interested in a position in the potential second Biden administration, New York Governor Kathy Hochul remarked, "Hell no.”

The Empire State Democrat emphasized her unwavering support for the 81-year-old incumbent president as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, per the New York Post.

Gov Hochul unequivocally declared that she has no intention of leaving her role as governor, dismissing rumors about her seeking a position in the administration.

“There’s no job on planet Earth that I’d rather be doing than being the governor of the greatest state in the nation for as long as the voters will have me,” Hochul told reporters in an unrelated press conference.

Furthermore, the 65-year-old affirmed that she plans to run for re-election in 2026.

What did Kathy Hochul say regarding Joe Biden’s reelection chances?

Governor Kathy Hochul mentioned that she frequently consults with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for advice on national political issues.

Both of them have publicly supported President Joe Biden since his disastrous June 27 debate performance against former President Donald Trump.

She also claimed that she discusses these issues with Queens Rep Greg Meeks (D-NY), who recently tweeted that "the president has done a great job."

“I solicit their opinions on what the state of play is in Washington. I’m a former member of Congress. I have a lot of deep relationships with people who are still there and that serves me well. I speak to the White House. Everybody takes my call,” Hochul said.

The New York governor continued to support President Biden after his gaffe-ridden press conference on Thursday night, describing it as a success and stressing the need for her fellow Democrats to show him support.

“That is the person to preserve world order,” she asserted, adding, “If that wasn’t clear to everybody, Democrat, Republican or independent, then I’m not sure who to listen to, but listen to what the president said last night.”

Gov Hochul's remarks come amid some New York Democrats urging Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, including her Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado, who publicly called for the president to step down earlier this week, creating a surprising public rift with the governor.

Rep Pat Ryan (D-NY), who is in a tough fight to keep his competitive seat in the Hudson Valley, has also distanced himself from President Biden.

On Wednesday, he wrote on X, “Trump is an existential threat to American democracy; it is our duty to put forward the strongest candidate against him. Joe Biden is a patriot but is no longer the best candidate to defeat Trump. For the good of our country, I am asking Joe Biden to step aside -- to deliver on his promise to be a bridge to a new generation of leaders.”

Friday's press conference marked the first time Governor Kathy Hochul had spoken with the Albany press corps in almost a month.
