FORT WASHINGTON, MARYLAND: During a speech delivered at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday, former President Donald Trump made a declaration about Prince Harry's visa application and immigration status.

The Duke of Sussex's immigration status has been called into question as a conservative think tank has contended that he cannot have legally entered the United States due to admitting to taking illegal drugs at the time, in his memoir, ‘Spare’.

The former POTUS criticized Harry and his spouse Meghan Markle, for what he called an 'unforgivable' betrayal of Queen Elizabeth II after the regal couple famously announced four years ago that they would end their royal duties to move to California, where Harry is now considering permanent citizenship, per DailyMail.

Trump's comments also included criticism of Joe Biden's administration, which he claimed was 'too gracious' to Duke of Sussex.

Specifically, he argued that Harry had not faced the same level of legal scrutiny as other immigrants when he moved across the pond with American citizen Meghan Markle in 2020.

What did Trump say about Prince Harry’s problems acquiring US visa?

In light of the royal's legal dispute over his US visa, Donald Trump has said that Prince Harry will be on his own if he is elected to a second term this year as president.

“I wouldn't protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That's unforgivable,” the 77-year-old MAGA figurehead told the Daily Express after addressing the crowd in Maryland immediately after the South Carolina primary.

“He would be on his own if it was down to me,” he remarked.

Trump's hostility to Prince Harry - and support for the late Queen - is unsurprising given the current administration's recent decision to withhold the public revelation of the Duke's visa application, following his admission of drug use in his best-selling book, which provoked the legal battle.

The federal lawsuit alleges that the US government ought to provide the immigration form to determine if he declared he had taken the narcotics to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), something he admitted to in his best-selling book.

In the memoir, the Duke, who is still a prince and fifth in line to the throne, admitted to using cocaine, marijuana, and hallucinogenic mushrooms in his youth.

During challenging times in his life as a 'deeply unhappy' 17-year-old, Harry admitted that marijuana 'really did help me', while cocaine "didn't do anything for me."

He also shared that when consuming psychedelic mushrooms, he experienced a hallucination that a bathroom garbage can had grown a head and was staring at him.

Trump, on his part, has already shown significant support for the late Queen, remarking following her death in 2022, “What a grand and beautiful lady she was. There was nobody like her!”

On the other hand, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee has shown disapproval towards the glamorous Duke and Duchess, calling the former's memoir "horrible" and expressing amazement that the pair was still invited to King Charles' Coronation ceremony the previous year after their dramatic departure.

Prince Harry’s US visa becomes point of contention between two parties in election year

During a hearing in court on Friday, February 23, representatives of the Republican-run Heritage Foundation argued that Prince Harry's admission into the nation should never have been approved.

A lawyer representing the Biden administration refuted the claims made by the conservative think tank regarding the Duke's confession of drug use in his book.

The lawyer argued that Prince Harry's admission was not sufficient evidence to prove the incidents in question had taken place.

“Saying something in a book doesn’t necessarily make it true,” lawyers for the federal government reportedly claimed behind closed doors.

Furthermore, the administration suggested that Prince Harry's account could have been embellished solely to promote his book, which has been highly successful in terms of sales.

The book, titled ‘Spare’, sold 467,183 copies in its first week in the US and 2.7 million copies globally.

Meanwhile, the Heritage Foundation plans to continue its efforts to obtain the records it believes are of immense public interest.

They asserted that President Joe Biden and his associates are attempting to conceal this information to “protect” Prince Harry and his 42-year-old wife.
