DENVER, COLORADO: The reelection campaign of Representative Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) recently received a $400 contribution from George Santos, the disgraced former Long Island GOP congressman notorious for his explicitly blatant lies.

Boebert, who has previously served two terms in the House of Representatives, is seeking to retain her position for a third term, having switched districts this year, according to the New York Post.

The contribution by George Santos was recorded in the first quarter of this year and was filed with the Federal Election Commission.

“Lauren Boebert is by far one of the hardest-working members on Capitol Hill … while struggling to navigate the challenges of life,” Santos told the outlet on Monday.

“Is she perfect? No, and neither are you,” the 35-year-old ex-Republican representative said. “I support strong conservative women like Lauren and I’m proud to do so,” he added.

Lauren Boebert’s reelection bid

Lauren Boebert recently disclosed her campaign finances, and according to the report, the far-right Colorado congresswoman raised approximately $462,000 during the first quarter of the year, ending March 31, and currently has $979,799 in cash reserves.

In comparison, during the same period last year, Boebert raised $764,000. Currently, Boebert represents Colorado's 3rd Congressional District, which she won by a slim margin of fewer than 600 votes in 2022.

Earlier this year, Boebert filed to run for the 4th Congressional District, however, she will not participate in the June 25th special election to determine who will complete former Representative Ken Buck's term.

Instead, she plans to seek the nomination during the primary election, which will be held on the same day as the special election.

Boebert has previously been at the fore for her inappropriate behavior at a performance of ‘Beetlejuice’ in Denver, where she was asked to leave after audience members complained of her vaping, singing loudly, and taking pictures with the flash on.

Additionally, she was recorded groping her date, Aspen bar owner Quinn Gallagher. Boebert has also had public disagreements with other Republicans, most notably a dispute with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) in a Capitol building’s women's bathroom last year.

‘Santos for Congress’ raises $0 as ousted ex-GOP lawmaker says that’s on purpose

Former Representative George Santos, who was expelled from the House of Representatives in December 2020 due to a federal indictment for alleged fraud and campaign finance violations, has reported no contributions or expenditures from March 7 to March 31, 2024.

Santos had launched a fundraising campaign committee called ‘Santos for Congress’ to support his bid to unseat Representative Nick LaLota (R-NY) in the 1st Congressional District of the Empire State.

The Federal Election Commission document filed on Monday indicates that the committee raised $0 in March, the New York Post reported.

Santos, who is facing a 23-count federal indictment and has admitted to lying about significant aspects of his life story, donated to Lauren Boebert's campaign on March 12, 2024, shortly after running into her at President Joe Biden's State of the Union address.

The former GOP congressman's occupation was listed as "self-employed" and according to Santos, the lack of funding for his campaign is deliberate.

“I will not be raising a single dime until I’m confirmed on the ballot,” Santos told reporters.

To dispel any allegations that his candidacy is a ploy to solicit funds from his remaining supporters, Santos has made an unconventional decision to postpone fundraising until later in the election.

This move on the disgraced lawmaker’s behalf is intended to demonstrate his genuine commitment to the race for reelection.

In order to qualify for the ballot, Santos is required to obtain 3,500 signatures from residents of the 1st Congressional District by May 15.

“I’m setting the standard that only confirmed ballot access candidates should raise money,” he added.

The 23 federal charges against Santos relate to allegations of campaign money laundering and donor fraud. Despite the charges, Santos has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

The House Ethics Committee investigated Santos's conduct and discovered that during his time in office, he utilized campaign funds for personal expenses such as X-rated OnlyFans subscriptions, Botox injections, and extravagant trips.

The panel's report also revealed that there was "substantial evidence" of Santos' involvement in criminal activity.

On 7 March, following his attendance at President Joe Biden's State of the Union address, Santos announced his intention to rival LaLota in the forthcoming November elections.

“I just witnessed a weak, frail president deliver spin and lies to the American people from inside the chambers,” Santos wrote on X.

“I have made several personal sacrifices in the name of serving the American people. My promise is that I will never back down because of my love for this country,” he added.

The House voted 311–114 to remove Santos, with 105 Republicans, including LaLota, voting in favor of the vote.
