WASHINGTON, DC: On Friday, May 24, The New York Times reported that former President Donald Trump is considering Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton as a potential running mate for the upcoming November general election.

Trump reportedly views Cotton as a 'reliable and effective communicator in interviews' and appreciates that the Senator has undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard.

Cotton was elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan with the US Army, according to the Daily Mail.

The 47-year-old Arkansas Republican’s emergence as a top contender for the position is noteworthy due to the unexpected nature of the choice, as it may be perceived as a conservative and conventional decision on the former POTUS’ part.

Additionally, other candidates being considered for the vice-presidential slot include Senators Marco Rubio, Tim Scott, and JD Vance, as well as North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, who featured at a New Jersey mega-rally recently alongside the 2024 presumptive Republican nominee.

What hints has Donald Trump dropped that could point to his probable VP pick?

The 77-year-old MAGA strongman also talked about five Republican men for Cabinet positions if he wins a second term in November, as reported by The New York Times.

In an interview with News 12 on Thursday, Donald Trump chose not to reveal his top three vice-presidential picks.

After his rally in the Bronx, the ex-Commander-in-Chief said, “Well, we have so many, I don't want to do that.”

Trump then praised his former Housing and Urban Development Secretary, Dr Ben Carson, Rubio, Vance, and Rep Elise Stefanik

The ex-president mentioned that he would announce his choice “sometime during the convention.”

The Republican National Convention is set for mid-July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Additionally, Trump has garnered support from former rivals, including Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, both of whom have expressed their willingness to support his candidacy.

Haley, the former South Carolina governor, stated this week that she would vote for Donald Trump in the November election.

Trump supporters in New Jersey favored the idea of the ex-POTUS selecting Ron DeSantis as his running mate.

DeSantis previously stated that he wouldn't accept the promotion, but has recently begun fundraising for Trump.

Vivek Ramaswamy, the biotech multimillionaire, is also popular with the MAGA crowd and, at 38 years old, he would look to attract the younger demographic within the Republican party to the ballot.

Democrat-turned-independent former Rep Tulsi Gabbard, has also been mentioned, highlighting the diverse range of individuals under consideration for this role.

Trump even hinted at the possibility of choosing South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, despite recent controversies following the release of her memoir where she detailed accounts of her shooting her dog and a meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, that never occurred in the first place.
